Colorado RockiesvsChicago Cubs
COL 6/CHC 8
Things to say
Cubs beat the Rockies 8-6 at Wrigley.
01
opener
Cubs took down the Rockies 8-6 at Wrigley. Felt closer than it should've been honestly. Colorado just keeps hanging around even when they've got no business doing it.
02
key player
Heart of the order did the damage for Chicago — when the Cubs get into their stuff in that ballpark, the ball just leaves the yard.
03
hot take
Manager went to the pen way too early. You let your starter go seven on a day like that, not pull him in the fifth.
04
deep cut
Rockies bullpen WHIP on the road is a horror show — and you saw it again, walks turning into runs in the late innings.
05
exit
Anyway, Cubs got the series — we'll see if they can keep it rolling on the next road trip.
The recap
Cubs took down the Rockies 8-6 at Wrigley, and honestly it had that classic afternoon-at-the-Friendly-Confines vibe where the ball was carrying. Colorado hung around all day, but Chicago's bats kept answering every time the Rockies clawed back into it.
The turning point felt like the middle innings when the heart of the order finally got into Colorado's starter and a couple balls left the yard to flip the lead for good. Rockies bullpen couldn't slam the door, Cubs move to 39-36, and Colorado drops to a rough 28-47.
