Colorado RockiesvsSan Francisco Giants
COL 2/SF 4
Things to say
The Giants beat the Rockies 4-2 at Oracle Park to close out the series.
01
opener
Giants took it 4-2 at Oracle. Nothing flashy, they just kept the line moving and the Rockies couldn't string anything together. Classic getaway-day baseball.
02
key player
The SF starter was the story for me, got into his stuff early and gave the bullpen a real cushion. When your guy goes deep and hands it over with a lead, that's the whole ballgame.
03
hot take
Honestly the Rockies are just not a road team. Four-and-two flatters them, that game wasn't as close as the score.
04
deep cut
Colorado's heart of the order went quiet again, and at Oracle that big right-center gap swallows their power. Their whole game is built for altitude, not sea level.
05
exit
Anyway, both these clubs are playing out the string at 40-55. I'm more curious who's a buyer at the deadline, we'll see next homestand.
The recap
Giants took care of business at Oracle and knocked off the Rockies 4-2. San Francisco's arms did the heavy lifting, keeping Colorado's bats quiet and stranding traffic when it mattered, while the bullpen slammed the door late.
It stayed close the whole way, but the Giants scratched across just enough and never let the Rockies get into their stuff. Nice bounce-back win for a club that needed one.
