Kansas City RoyalsvsColorado Rockies
KC 6/COL 12
Things to say
The Colorado Rockies beat the Kansas City Royals 12-6 at Coors Field.
01
opener
Rockies put up a twelve-spot at Coors, so yeah, the ball was flying. Twelve to six, never really close after the middle innings. Classic Coors Field slugfest.
02
key player
The heart of Colorado's order just teed off all night. Somebody left the yard and the whole lineup fed off it.
03
hot take
Twelve runs and I still say KC lost that in the bullpen. Manager went to the pen too early and they never got the bleeding stopped.
04
deep cut
Watch the Coors thing though. Rockies rake at altitude and can't hit a lick on the road. That twelve means nothing next week.
05
exit
Anyway, getaway day tomorrow, we'll see if the Royals can steal one before they head out.
The recap
Coors Field did what Coors Field does, and the Rockies raked their way to a 12-6 win over the Royals. Colorado's heart of the order left the yard early and often, and once they built that cushion the Royals' bullpen couldn't slow the bleeding in the thin air.
Kansas City hung six on the board, but at altitude that's just not enough to keep pace. Turning point was the middle innings when the Rockies blew it open and the KC manager had already burned through his best arms.
