ESPN Unlmtd/MLB.TVTarget Field
Things to say

Royals edged the Twins 3-2 at Target Field.

01
opener
Royals snuck out of Minnesota with a 3-2 win. Tight one all the way, came down to the last couple innings. Twins just couldn't string anything together with runners on.
02
key player
Whoever the Royals had on the mound was actually getting into his stuff — KC's bullpen finally looked like a real bullpen for once.
03
hot take
Twins are 30-36 at home in their own park, that's the story. This isn't a slump anymore, that's just who they are.
04
deep cut
Two runs in a getaway day matinee at Target Field with the wind blowing out? That's a pitcher's line you frame.
05
exit
Anyway, we'll see if KC can carry it into the next series — they've been allergic to road sweeps all year.
The recap

Royals snuck out of Target Field with a 3-2 win, the kind of quiet road grab that barely registers until you check the standings. Without a scoring summary it looks like a low-leverage slog, but 3-2 in Minnesota usually means somebody's starter got into his stuff early and the bullpens traded zeros late.

Kansas City pushes to 26-39 and the Twins drop under .500 territory at 30-36, so the heart of the order on both sides clearly took the day off at the plate. Getaway-day baseball — one swing, one mistake, one team flies home happier.
