Los Angeles SparksvsWashington Mystics
LA 70/WSH 80
Things to say
The Washington Mystics beat the Los Angeles Sparks 80-70 at home.
01
opener
Mystics handled the Sparks 80-70 at home. LA hung around but never really threatened. Washington just controlled it down the stretch.
02
key player
Sonia Citron was the whole show — 21 and 8 dimes. She was running the offense and getting buckets, that's a problem.
03
hot take
Sparks are just not built to win on the road. Nice pieces, no closer when it gets tight.
04
deep cut
Shakira Austin quietly grabbed 11 boards in the paint. That's the reason LA got zero second chances.
05
exit
Mystics are climbing in that playoff race now — next couple games actually matter.
The recap
Washington handled business at home, grinding out an 80-70 win over LA behind Sonia Citron running the whole show. She dropped 21 and dished 8 dimes, doing a little bit of everything while Shakira Austin owned the glass with 11 boards and cleaned up in the paint.
Rae Burrell gave the Sparks a pulse with 20, but nobody else showed up and LA just couldn't buy a bucket down the stretch. Mystics move to 20-14 and look every bit like a team playing for real position.
