St. Louis CITY SCvsSporting Kansas City
STL 1/SKC 1
Things to say
St. Louis CITY SC and Sporting Kansas City played to a 1-1 draw at Sporting Park.
01
opener
Yeah, ended 1-1. Kind of a slog if I'm honest. Two points dropped for St. Louis, they're the better side right now.
02
key player
Joveljic had five shots for Sporting and still couldn't put it away. Guy's due, but man, wasteful night.
03
hot take
Sporting sitting on 4-3-13 tells you everything. They're happy with a draw at home and that's the problem.
04
deep cut
Watch Dante Polvara for St. Louis. Fifteen defensive interventions, the kid ran the whole midfield.
05
exit
Anyway, St. Louis have the games in hand. I'll care more when the playoff push actually starts.
The recap
The I-70 derby ended all square, a 1-1 draw at Sporting Park that neither side could put away. Joveljic led the line for Kansas City with five shots but couldn't find the winner against Roman Bürki, who came up with a couple of key saves to keep St.
Louis level. Dante Polvara was everywhere for CITY, throwing himself into 15 defensive interventions to hold the point on the road.
A share of the spoils that flatters neither of these misfiring outfits, but St. Louis will happily bank the away draw.
