St. Louis CITY SCvsSan Jose Earthquakes
STL 3/SJ 1
Things to say
St. Louis CITY SC beat San Jose 3-1 on the road at PayPal Park.
01
opener
St. Louis went into San Jose and took it 3-1. Never really in doubt once they settled. Quakes just couldn't keep up.
02
key player
Simon Becher was everywhere up top for St. Louis. Seven shots on his own. When he's firing like that they're a different team.
03
hot take
San Jose's 10-3-6 record is a mirage. They got picked apart at home and it wasn't close.
04
deep cut
Angus Gunn made four saves and still shipped three. Tells you how exposed that back line was all night.
05
exit
Anyway, St. Louis look dangerous heading into the run-in. Curious who they draw next.
The recap
St. Louis rolled into PayPal Park and walked out with a 3-1 win, and it wasn't as close as the scoreline.
Simon Becher was the story, peppering San Jose with seven shots and dragging CITY's attack all game. The Quakes only got a consolation on the board while Angus Gunn was left making four saves and picking the ball out of his net three times.
Solid road result that shakes off a shaky start to the summer for St. Louis.
