Detroit TigersvsTexas Rangers
DET 6/TEX 3
Things to say
The Tigers beat the Rangers 6-3 on the road at Globe Life Field.
01
opener
Tigers took it 6-3 down in Texas. Detroit's supposed to be the bad team but they didn't play like it. Rangers just couldn't string anything together.
02
key player
The heart of Detroit's order did the damage — a couple runs left the yard and that was the ballgame. When their bats wake up they're a different team.
03
hot take
Texas is a .500 club that plays like it's waiting for next year. That's a home game you have to win.
04
deep cut
Rangers left too many on base and the pen didn't hold once it got handed a mess. Manager maybe went to it a hair early.
05
exit
Anyway, getaway day tomorrow — we'll see if Texas can split before they get out of town.
The recap
Detroit went into Globe Life Field and walked out with a 6-3 win, flipping the script on a Texas club that can't get above .500 to save its life. The bats did the damage early and the Tigers never gave it back, leaning on their arms to slam the door once they got the heart of the order clicking.
Texas had chances but stranded too many, and by the time they scratched across three it was already a two-score hole. Getaway-day baseball, and the Rangers looked like a team ready to hit the airport.
