Detroit TigersvsChicago White Sox

Things to say

White Sox beat the Tigers 7-1 at Rate Field on Saturday.

01
opener
Sox finally looked like a real ballclub. Took it to Detroit 7-1, never really in doubt after the middle innings. Rate Field was actually loud for once.
02
key player
Whoever was throwing for Chicago got into his stuff early — Tigers couldn't square anything up, and once the heart of the order broke through, it was over.
03
hot take
Tigers are 22-37. I don't care what anyone says, that rebuild is not happening this year.
04
deep cut
Detroit's manager went to the pen way too early. You're down a couple runs in the fifth, you let your starter wear it — instead he burned three arms on a getaway day.
05
exit
Anyway, we'll see if the Sox can carry anything into the next series or if this was just a one-off.
The recap

White Sox absolutely steamrolled the Tigers 7-1 at Rate Field, and honestly Detroit never looked like they showed up. Chicago's bats got into Detroit's starter early and the heart of the order did the damage, while the home staff cruised and held the Tigers to a single run all afternoon.

The turning point was really the first time through the order — once the Sox put a crooked number up, the Tigers' manager was stuck watching the bullpen burn through a getaway day. Tigers fall to 22-37 and you can feel that season slipping; the Sox quietly climb to 31-27 and look like the better team right now.
