New York YankeesvsBaltimore Orioles
NYY 5/BAL 3
Things to say
The Yankees beat the Orioles 5-3 at Camden Yards.
01
opener
Yanks took it 5-3 in Baltimore. Never really felt in doubt after they got the lead. Camden always plays small but the Bombers just had more.
02
key player
The heart of that Yankees order did the damage again. One swing left the yard and that was the ballgame. Guy's just locked in right now.
03
hot take
Orioles manager went to the pen way too early. You've got a starter cruising and you pull him? That's how you hand games away.
04
deep cut
Nobody's talking about the Yankee bullpen slamming the door in the late innings. Two clean frames, no drama. That's the quiet part of a 5-3 win.
05
exit
Anyway, it's a getaway day tomorrow. We'll see if Baltimore can steal the finale before they leave town.
The recap
Yankees rolled into Camden Yards and walked out with a 5-3 win, keeping their foot on the gas in a season where they're comfortably above water at 71-55. Baltimore hung around and made it a game, but three runs just wasn't enough to keep pace with New York's lineup.
The Orioles, sitting under .500 at 61-66, are running out of runway to make anything of this year. Solid getaway-day work from the Yanks, who took care of business against a division rival they were supposed to beat.
