Fenway got loud for this one as the Red Sox knocked off the Yankees 6-3, which is a heck of a result when you're sitting at 33-46 staring up at a team with 48 wins. Boston jumped on New York's pitching early and the heart of the order kept the line moving, building a cushion the bullpen could actually protect.
The Yankees scratched out three but never really got into their stuff at the plate, and you could feel the air come out once Boston pulled ahead for good. Getaway-day baseball, and the underdog sent the home crowd home happy.
