ScotlandvsHaiti

SCO 1/HAI 0

FOX/Tele/PeacockGillette Stadium
Things to say

Scotland edged Haiti 1-0 at Gillette Stadium to open the group.

01
opener
Scotland nicked it 1-nil over Haiti. Wasn't pretty, but a win's a win. Gillette was rocking for Haiti though, neutral crowd my foot.
02
key player
Angus Gunn kept the clean sheet with a couple of solid saves, and Jack Hendry was everywhere at the back with 51 accurate passes.
03
hot take
Haiti actually looked the better side at stretches. Scotland rode their luck and they know it.
04
deep cut
Hannes Delcroix had 14 defensive interventions for Haiti. The guy was a one-man wall and still ended up on the losing side.
05
exit
Anyway, three points is three points. We'll see if Scotland can actually play football in the next group game.
The recap

Scotland nicked it 1-nil over Haiti at Gillette, and honestly it was the kind of scrappy World Cup opener you forget by Tuesday. Nobody's stat line jumps off the page — McTominay only managed two shots, Angus Gunn had a quiet two saves for the clean sheet, and there's no scoring summary to point at for the goal.

Haiti actually held the ball well through Delcroix, who racked up 66 accurate passes and 14 defensive interventions, but Pierrot's three shots never properly tested Gunn. Three points are three points, though, and the Scots will take a grinding win to open the group every day of the week.
