The morning line

MLB The marquee game is the Atlanta Braves at the Los Angeles Dodgers, with the Dodgers heavy favorites and a shot to flex the heart of their order against a Braves staff hoping its starter can work deep into the game and keep the bullpen fresh. Don't sleep on the Yankees at the Rays, a tight getaway-day tilt where a shaky WHIP from either pen could turn into a walk-off, and the White Sox at the Guardians, where Cleveland's southpaw will need to avoid getting into his stuff early against a lineup chasing extra innings. The Padres at the Brewers rounds out the slate, with Milwaukee's high-octane offense looking to feast if San Diego's starter loses the zone.

NBA Preseason's lone marquee tilt sends the Miami Heat up to Quebec City to face the Toronto Raptors at Videotron Centre, with both sides still 0-0 and mostly just auditioning rotation spots before the real buckets count. Nothing's at stake on the scoreboard, but it's the first live look at how each roster's depth pieces move the ball and whether anyone flashes enough in the paint or off the catch to lock down a bench job. Keep an eye out for a highlight-reel and-one or a cold-blooded splash from a young guy trying to make a case before cuts.

NCAA Football The marquee matchup is Ohio State at Iowa, with both sides undefeated this late in the year and the Buckeyes favored by three and a half despite playing on the road, so expect a slog near the line of scrimmage and a lot of time of possession talk if Iowa's smashmouth ground game can keep Ohio State's offense off the field. Don't sleep on Miami at Clemson either, since the unbeaten Hurricanes are favored on the road in a de facto ACC statement game. If you need a blowout to half-watch, LSU is laying over fifty points on McNeese, the kind of spread that usually means garbage-time stats by the third quarter and an easy cover.

NHL The game to watch tonight is already underway: the New York Rangers are up 1-0 on the road against the Detroit Red Wings early in the first period at Little Caesars Arena, a good one to check back on for a potential power-play snipe or a stick save keeping it close. Later, keep an eye on Washington at Carolina, where the Hurricanes are favored at home and a strong penalty kill could be the difference if either team finds itself shorthanded. If you only watch one highlight package tomorrow morning, look for whether anyone needed overtime or pulled the goalie late in the third for a last-gasp equalizer.

WNBA Tonight's marquee is the Dallas Wings heading into Chase Center to take on the Golden State Valkyries, who've been racking up buckets all year behind a 32-12 record. Golden State is favored by 8.5 and will look to keep the home crowd buzzing with splash plays in the paint, while Dallas needs their guards to bring ice in their veins if they want to avoid taking the L on the road. Keep an eye on the over-under at 159.5 - if either squad catches fire from deep, this one could turn into an absolute clinic.
