The morning line

MLB The marquee game tonight is the Atlanta Braves absolutely shellacking the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park — the Braves are up 10-2 in the bottom of the ninth, and with a 37-19 record they look like the class of the league right now. Tomorrow night's card has the Philadelphia Phillies heading to Dodger Stadium for what figures to be a pitching showcase, with the over-under sitting at just 8.5 — two clubs near the top of their respective divisions squaring off in a game that could easily turn on whether the bullpen holds or a cleanup hitter left the yard at the wrong moment. Also worth watching: the Houston Astros and Texas Rangers renew their Lone Star grudge match at Globe Life Field tonight, a division rivalry where the heart of the order on either side can flip the whole series before the manager even thinks about going to the pen.

NBA Tonight's marquee game has the Oklahoma City Thunder — the league's best road team at 64-18 — rolling into Frost Bank Center to take on the San Antonio Spurs, who are sitting at 62-20 and catching a home-court advantage with a 3.5-point line. With an over/under of 219.5, both offenses are expected to come out pouring buckets, so keep an eye on whether OKC can do damage in the paint against a Spurs squad that's been an absolute clinic on defense all season. This one's got late-game dagger potential written all over it — on NBC and Peacock at 8:30 Eastern if you want to catch it live.

NHL Tonight's marquee matchup has the Montreal Canadiens skating into Lenovo Center to face the Carolina Hurricanes, with Carolina installed as heavy favorites at minus-225 — so the Hurricanes are expected to control the crease and dictate play from the drop of the puck. The Hurricanes have been one of the league's best penalty-kill units all season, which puts a premium on Montreal staying disciplined and out of the box if they want to keep this one close. Keep an eye on whether the Canadiens can generate anything from the slot in the late stages of the third, because if Carolina holds the lead with a few minutes left, you can bet the Habs will be pulling the goalie and hunting for the tying snipe.

WNBA The marquee matchup tonight is the Indiana Fever at the Golden State Valkyries, two teams sitting at 4-2 and separated by just a point and a half on the spread — whoever takes the L here drops a full game back in a tight standings race. Keep an eye on Las Vegas Aces at Dallas Wings as well, where the Aces roll in as five-and-a-half point favorites and will be looking to put on an absolute clinic in the paint against a Wings squad they should be able to eat up. Tomorrow the Minnesota Lynx, the hottest team in this slate at 5-2, head into Wintrust Arena as big favorites over the Chicago Sky, and if Minnesota keeps splashing buckets the way they have been, that one could get ugly fast.
