MLB The game to circle on tonight's slate is the Los Angeles Dodgers heading to Chase Field to take on the Arizona Diamondbacks — the Dodgers are running the best record in baseball at 38-21, and if their starter gets into his stuff early and goes seven, the heart of that order has shown all year it can leave the yard against anyone. Over in the American League, the Cleveland Guardians make the trip to Yankee Stadium for what looks like the most competitive matchup of the evening, two clubs with legitimate postseason ambitions squaring off even as the Yankees' -219 line suggests the books think this one's close to a formality. And keep tabs on the Atlanta Braves, sitting at a scorching 40-20 and hosting the Toronto Blue Jays at Truist Park — any southpaw the Blue Jays run out there is going to have his hands full keeping the Braves' OBP in check against that lineup.

NHL The marquee game on the ice tonight is the Vegas Golden Knights skating into Lenovo Center to face the Carolina Hurricanes, and with Carolina sitting as heavy favorites at -155, the Hurricanes' elite penalty kill and swarming forecheck will be on full display against a Golden Knights squad that has lived dangerously in overtime all season. The over/under sits at a tight 5.5, so expect both goaltenders to be tested in the slot and the crease — if Vegas is going to steal this one on the road, they'll need to convert on the power play and keep it close enough to make a push in the third. Carolina has the better record by a wide margin, but the Golden Knights have the kind of gritty, battle-tested roster that can snipe one top shelf when you least expect it.

WNBA The marquee matchup tonight is the Minnesota Lynx rolling into Phoenix to take on the Mercury — Minnesota is one of the hottest teams in the league at 6-2 while Phoenix is still searching for buckets at 2-7, so watch for the Lynx to put on an absolute clinic. The late West Coast slate is must-see too: the Portland Fire (6-4) head into Chase Center to face the Golden State Valkyries, and Las Vegas Aces (5-3) tip off against the Los Angeles Sparks in what could be the highest-scoring game of the night with an over/under sitting at 176.5. Dallas opens things up as big -12.5 favorites over a struggling Seattle Storm squad that's been taking the L more often than not this season.
