Meanwhile in Milwaukee, the Rockies just walked off with the Brewers, a reminder that even a last-place club can spoil a getaway-day finale if the closer got into his stuff.

MLS The night's headline act is Sporting Kansas City heading into BMO Stadium to face a red-hot LAFC side installed as massive favorites, so watch for LAFC to pepper the box early and try to put this one to bed before extra time even becomes a conversation. Keep half an eye on Nashville SC's trip to Orlando City too, since Nashville have been the surprise package of the league and a clean sheet on the road would say a lot about their credentials. Elsewhere, Inter Miami's visit to CF Montréal is worth a glance for the same reason everyone tunes in for Miami these days, even if the real drama tonight belongs to Kansas City against a Los Angeles side that's been finding the net for fun.

WNBA The marquee slate is the WNBA All-Star showcase, Team Spoon against Team Coop at the United Center, with bragging rights and exhibition swagger on the line rather than standings. Expect these captains to load up on buckets early, empty the bench for highlight dunks and and-one chances, and treat defense as optional until the fourth quarter tightens up. Keep an eye out for a dagger three or two down the stretch if either squad decides to actually guard somebody.
